032 NETWORKED BUSINESS OPERATIONS

 
Learning outcomes and processes
  Students learn to acquire information on their chosen industry and on companies’ business operations and processes, and understand the principles affecting companies’ and organisations’ business models and practices.
 
The students will be able to
  • define the main operators and clusters involved in commerce in the sector
• recognise different business models and earnings principles
• model working companies’ core, control and support processes
• acquire and process information, evaluate it critically and see the big picture
• use information and communication technology in their work
• handle typical communication situations for the sector in different languages
• evaluate their own learning and its development needs

 
Description
  This theme starts off the students’ professional growth with an emphasis on describing business management and on the main tools needed in learning and at work. The study units in the theme form a learning module which familiarises students with companies and organisations operating in the area, demonstrating how companies can become networked to form partnerships and clusters. Knowledge related to industry, commerce and the national economy forms a basis for research and development work to serve the region. Competence is evident as a skill in acquiring and evaluating information related to companies’ operations and operating environments, and the ability to present things in writing, verbally and visually using various communication styles.
